Office & Mixed-Use

State-of-the-art self storage

Opened in October 2008, the new Premier Storage in Hillsboro, Ore., offers the best amenities and latest in security technology. The 120,000-square-foot (11,148-m2) first-class facility is designed to look like a modern office building and features a two-story glass atrium in the lobby and office, along with split-faced block, smooth-faced insulated panels and four levels of glass. Palm trees help bring a laid back Southern California feel to the Pacific Northwest.

Smart cards are used instead of numerical keypads for entrance in the state-of-the-art facility and units, and street signs are used to name the hallways. A seven-car loading/unloading covered area keeps customers out of the rain. The building was designed so that the third and fourth floors extend over the loading area to maximize the facility’s size. Premier Storage also offers customers a safe and secure place to store their wine at a constant temperature and optimal humidity levels. While most hallways are painted white, the hallways near the exterior are painted with a Galvalume finish to match the metallic window framing and give the building a polished and modern look.

Dallas-based AEP Span supplied the floor decking, roof decking and light-gauge steel framing for the project. Modesto, Calif.-based Kingspan Insulated Panels Inc. supplied approximately 7,800 square feet (725 m2) of 2 1/2-inch (64-mm) insulated Centurywall horizontal wall panels. Portland, Ore.-based Centennial Glass, provided and installed the glass curtainwall, and Anaheim, Calif.- based Epic Doors supplied the roll-up unit doors and hallway system.

Facilities Development Corp., Santa Rosa, Calif., was the general contractor; TECH-FAST Self Storage Buildings, Tacoma, Wash., was the engineer and supplier; and Centennial Glass, Portland, Ore., supplied the glass curtainwall.
