Restaurant finds new coping manufacturer

Red Robin, a chain of gourmet burger and spirits restaurants located primarily in the western United States, owns or franchises more than 200 restaurants. The restaurants all follow a corporate architectural design that is as quality conscious as their food menus and service philosophy. When architects at the company’s corporate headquarters in Boulder, Colo., learned about less than satisfactory results with shop-fabricated coping for the roof edges, they looked into finding a different manufacturer.

Asheville, N.C.-based W.P. Hickman Co. supplied approximately 170 linear feet (52 m) of 25-gauge galvanized steel Permasnap coping; approximately 70 feet (21 m) of arched coping; and 60 feet (18 m) of radius coping for the front entrance and canopy of a new restaurant in Castle Rock, Colo. The project also utilized Safeguard fascia, and formed coping created a mechanical screen.

W.P. Hickman is now listed in the architectural specs for all Red Robin restaurants. Hickman’s Permasnap coping is installed on Red Robin restaurants in Lincoln, Neb.; Broken Arrow, Okla.; Beaver Creek, Ohio; and four more pending locations.

Southwestern Metal Systems, Commerce City, Colo., was the installer, and Tim Patz from Tim Patz & Assoc., Denver, was Hickman’s representative.
