The 7,600-square-foot (706-m2) Social Security Administration building in Selmer, Tenn., is a recent example of the increased usage of metal buildings by federal, state and local government agencies. Olive Branch III Properties LLC, Olive Branch, Miss., adopted metal building systems construction for the multisite development of SSA office buildings procured by the U.S. General Services Administration.
Professional Design Resources, Memphis, Tenn., was the architect for the seven-month design build project led by Chris Woods Construction Inc., Bartlett, Tenn. Memphis-based Liberty Building Systems supplied the structural system comprised of continuous beams with straight columns and the LibertyLoc standing-seam metal roof system in a Galvalume finish for the project. The cost-effective systems combined with brick veneer for an aesthetic appearance. With only minor changes, the developer has repeated the materials solution and general design for other SSA federal agencies.
