The 129,171-square-foot (12,000-m2) Faculty of Law Building at the University of New South Wales, Kensington Campus, Australia, incorporates a 350-seat auditorium, teaching spaces, a new Law Library and office accommodation for academic teaching staff.
The project features 58,127 square feet (5,400 m2) of Quadroclad Façade System and Flexicald metal panels from Hunter Douglas Contract, Norcross, Ga., that spans over the striking forms of the new and highly innovative building. The project demonstrates the aesthetic and functional performance for the lightweight Quatroclad Façade System that is ideal for large, flat and angled surfaces. Comprising of two aluminum skins bonded to an aluminum honeycomb-shaped core, Quatroclad provides exceptional rigidity and strength, while requiring a minimal sub-structure.
The rich, muted tones used in the project include HD COLOR-COTE PVF2 in Metallic Silver, Charcoal Metallic, Black, Sparkling Gold, Gold Metallic and Pale Copper, which further enhance the surreal and futuristic aesthetic of the building, forever transforming the university landscape.
Lyons Architects, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, was the architect, and Architectural Glass ProjectsPty Ltd., Huntingwood, New South Wales, was the builder and installer.
