The 80,000-square-foot (7,432-m2) Engineering Technology Building at Fairmont State University in Fairmont, W.Va., was completed in January 2008. The extensive renovation project of the college’s existing two-story Technology Wing of Wallman Hall added two floors and approximately 40,000 square feet (3,716 m2). The new building features two large lecture rooms and laboratory facilities for the engineering technology programs, in addition to housing the drafting; graphics; mechanical, civil and electrical engineering technology; and safety and environmental engineering technology programs.
The project utilized 10,863 square feet (1,009 m2) of 22/26-gauge 3-inch
(76-mm) vertical Formawall Dimension Series in Gray Velvet; 9,098 square feet (845 m2) of 22/26-gauge 3-inch vertical Formawall Dimension Series in Platinum; and 1,883 square feet (175 m2) of 22/26-gauge 2-inch (51-mm) horizontal Formawall Dimension Series in Platinum. All panels are from CENTRIA and feature an embossed Sundance Mica coating. The panels’ platinum and dark gray tones create a high-tech look while blending in with the existing building structure. The Sundance Mica coating provides a pearlescent appearance that captures the sunlight throughout the day.
The Design Alliance Architects, Pittsburgh, was the architect; A.C. Dellovade, Canonsburg, Pa., was the dealer/installer; and Landau Building Co., Wexford, Pa., was the contractor.
