Located on 44 acres (18 hectares) in Howell, N.J., Applewood Estates is the first hospital-sponsored life care center in New Jersey. The completion of a $38 million expansion in 2007 created a “Main Street Promenade” leading from the care facility’s main building to an indoor pool, provided access to community buildings that house an expanded dining hall, a new bistro restaurant, new convenience shops, renovated banking facilities, library, fitness center and health care wing. The community includes 380 independent-living, assisted-living and skilled-nursing apartments, along with 20 independent-living cottages, a new performance center, formal dining room and foyer.
Englert Series 2000 standing-seam roof panels in Pacific Blue by Englert Inc., Perth Amboy, N.J., were chosen to accent the main entry of the building. Englert’s Series 1000 panels, also in Pacific Blue, were chosen for a large dome that caps the leisure areas of the complex. A total of 2,800 square feet (260 m2) of Englert panels were used for the project. ADPI, Avenel, N.J., was the fabricator, and Coffrey Brothers, Howell, N.J., installed the metal roofing.
