The 6,000-square-foot (557-m2) Wm. S. Marvin Training and Visitor Center in Warroad, Minn., gives visitors the opportunity to see the story of Marvin Windows starting at the beginning with George S. Marvin arriving in Warroad in 1904. Throughout the visitor center there are different exhibits where visitors can see artifacts and interactive presentations, which makes the history come alive.
The general contractor, Nor-Son Inc., Baxter, Minn., and the architect, Miller Dunwiddie, Minneapolis, were challenged to complete the job in a short time period while still maintaining superior workmanship and dealing with the unpredictable weather in northern Minnesota that resulted in the occasional delays in shipping and construction.
The project utilized UNA-FAB Series 3000 0.125-Aluminum Plate Panels in Dark Bronze; UNA-CLAD UC-1 24-gauge Steel Snap-On Seam Architectural roof panels in Hemlock Green; UNA-CLAD UC-7 24-gauge Steel Snap-On Standing Seam roof panels in Hemlock Green; and UNA-CLAD UC-500 24-gauge Soffit Systems in Dark Bronze. All products were manufactured by Firestone Metal Products Inc., Anoka, Minn.
The entrances to the facility were radiused and had different radiuses within the same archway. The contractor on the project was Herzog Roofing, Detroit Lakes, Minn.
