Solar, LLC, Cincinnati, Ohio, is partnering with Inovateus Solar, LLC on an 80KW solar power installation in the State of Ohio. The installation was commissioned and went online August 4th at Ameridian’s corporate headquarters in Cincinnati, Ohio. “Our 30,000 square foot facility is the perfect place to install this solar system. With the federal and state funds available, our payback will occur in just a few years,” states Matt Owens, a NABCEP Certified Solar PV Installer and director of operations for Ameridian’s Solar and Renewable Energy Division. The Realities of Investing in Solar Power-Incentives can pay up to 70 percent. Financial incentives on the state and local level in the form of tax credits and grants are significant for photovoltaic installations. Combined incentives total well over 70 percent of the cost of the project. There are four major components of the payback calculations: 1. The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 provides a federal grant for 30 percent of the total cost of the project. 2. The state of Ohio Advanced Energy Fund Grant contributes up to 50 percent of the total cost. 3. The renewable energy credits will be sold to Ohio utility companies or other entities seeking energy credits. 4. Ameridian will have energy savings of 65 percent on their energy consumption for 25 plus years-the expected life cycle of this system.
