It is a wire mesh that consists of either woven or welded wires in a square or rectangular grid that is available in plain steel, hot dipped galvanized, aluminum, stainless steel or PVC coated. It typically is used for outdoor applications. Some other common applications include pest control, chicken wire, fencing, filters, screens, guards and other industrial uses. Features of the hardware cloth product line include flexibility, solid construction, durability, economic price point, ease of installation and various mesh openings. The mesh openings range from 1/8- by 1/8-inch (3- by 3-mm) to 2- by 2-inch (51- by 51-mm) for the square openings and 1/2- by 1-inch (13- by 25-mm) to 2- by 4-inch (102-mm) for the rectangular openings. Hardware cloth comes in rolls ranging from 24 to 72 inches (610 to 1,829 mm) wide, 100-foot- (30-m-) long and can be cut to fit your personal application.
