Kawneer Co. Inc., Norcros, Ga., has made a significant investment in the expansion of capabilities at its 52,000-square-foot (4,831-m2) Austell, Ga., facility. This marks an important step for the company as it continues to invest in the business for long-term growth. The new improvements, costing approximately $1 million, will provide customers with a broader range of resources, as well as increased production, storage and inventory, resulting in shorter lead times and enhanced quality. “Kawneer remains focused on the future and the opportunities ahead,” said Tom Szematowicz, director of service centers for Kawneer North America. “After seeing the improvements first hand at our Austell facility, I am confident that these changes will allow Kawneer to be even more responsive to market cyclicality and more capable of servicing our customers.” With the recent expansion and capital investment, the Austell facility is uniquely positioned to provide service to an expanded customer base. This significant investment in more state-of-the-art fabrication equipment and technology will give Kawneer the flexibility to better meet the demand of today’s market, as well as future demands when the market improves, and to do so while remaining cost competitive. Kawneer’s Austell service center offers stock items, a custom door line, framing systems, welding, fabrication and packing. The new state-of-the-art fabrication equipment and technology will better prepare the facility’s more than 40 experienced employees to provide exceptional service, giving customers the expertise that has helped make Kawneer an industry leader. Kawneer’s dedication to innovation drove the facility’s enhancements; many of which are related to improvements in technology, allowing information to flow more quickly and increasing the speed of accuracy. Through upgrades to equipment and information systems, the Austell service center will continue to fulfill the company’s commitment to offering superior products, systems and services to help customers and architects meet their needs. “Providing our customers with both the resources they need to grow their businesses and exceptional service is a priority. We’re proud to be growing and extending our capabilities in Austell. This is only the beginning – there will be more to come,” said Diana Perreiah, Vice President of Business Operations for Kawneer North America.
