QCfacades has announced the publication of Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for its QCglass and QChoneycomb rainscreen panel systems. The QChoneycomb EPD and QCglass EPD provide impact data for facade-attachment components and panels.
According to QCfacades, both EPDs cover the entire system life cycle, from raw material supply and manufacturing through transportation, installation, and end-of-life, enabling more meaningful material evaluations and whole-building life cycle assessments (LCA).
“Sustainability is part of the holistic engineering approach we take to solve complex facade challenges and deliver resilient systems,” said Jason Summers, QCfacades founder. “Our EPDs provide transparent environmental data for architects, engineers, and facade consultants to consider alongside things like performance and design.”
The EPDs were developed following detailed LCA studies conducted by the sustainability consultancy Tunley Environmental in accordance with the requirements of ISO 14025 and EN 15804. They underwent independent third-party verification by ViridisPride and are published by the International EPD System.
“Architects increasingly look beyond individual sustainability claims and ask for credible data that allows them to understand the environmental impacts of the products they specify,” said Dr. William Beer, CEO of Tunley Environmental. “These EPDs extend that mission by giving architects verified life-cycle data for façade systems where performance, durability and design intent must all be considered.”
