Durability key for metal building project

The 19,200-square-foot (1,784-m2) Philip Leasing LLC building in Eugene, Ore., utilized Oklahoma City-based Star Building Systems’ metal building, StarShield roof system and DuraRib wall system. Completed in July 2008, the project utilized a Star building for its durability.

The project also utilized CMU to 4 feet (1 m), as well as wood frame construction, for the two-story offices. An 80- by 120-foot
(24- by 37-m) canopy was also incorporated into the building. The 96-foot- (29-m-) wide building was divided into two 48-foot (15-m) modules with a center line column for a 10 ton (9 metric ton) crane in each module. The project also utilized 4-inch (102-mm) insulation in the wall, 6-inch (152-mm) insulation in the roof, and T-5 and T-8 for the lighting.

Shaw Architects, Eugene, was the architect; Evans Building Co., Eugene, was the general contractor and builder; and MBSI, Eugene, was the steel erector.
