The Technology Center II in Frankfort, Ky., is among the latest office projects by visionary developer C. Michael Davenport Inc., Frankfort. Davenport is a Butler Builder that built the office facility on speculation as a way to support job creation in the community.
The 38,000-square-foot (3,530-m2) Class A facility is engineered for energy efficiency and features a distinctive lobby with cherry woodfloors; a wall-mounted satellite TV; and framed world map to convey the global reach of companies at the cutting edge of the high-tech world.
The 112- by 350- by 12-foot (34- by 107- by 4-m) clear span structure affords maximum flexibility for either an individual or multitenant layout with a minimum divisibility of 18,500 square feet (1,719 m2). Davenport devoted 3.2 acres (1.3 hectares) within view of Interstate Highway 64 to the building and included state-of-the-art technology and professional finishes to highlight the executive lobby; spacious conference room equipped with a kitchenette and that is wired for audio-visual presentations; along with an oversized break room.
Frankfort-based Burris Associates, PSC, AIA, designed the building with a mix of systems supplied by Kansas City, Mo.-based Butler Manufacturing Co., including a Widespan structural building system with a VSR architectural standing- seam metal roof system with panels finished in Hunter Green. The walls were applied with the Shadowall system in a Burgundy coating with accenting synthetic stucco.
