Perforated metal fuels technology research center

Moon Township, Pa.-based CENTRIA’s Formawall Dimension Series was specified for the Center for Emerging Technologies, Greenville, S.C., on Clemson University International Center for Automotive Research campus for performance, aesthetics and sustainability. The 60,000-square-foot center is one of five technology-focused buildings designed to optimize collaborative research environments. Ecoscreen Perforated Screenwall provides an airy aesthetic to blend the building into its surroundings.

The Center for Emerging Technologies is an automotive and motorsports research facility with offices, administrative space and laboratories for the transportation, technology and energy sectors. The center, completed in July 2011, is LEED Gold certified and allows for 14 percent energy savings compared to less efficient buildings.

LS3P Neal Prince, Greenville, S.C., was the architecture firm; Sherman Construction, Piedmont, S.C., was the general contractor; and Greenvillebased Steel Clad was the dealer and installer.

The project utilized 10,216 square feet of 22/26-gauge Formawall Dimension Series 3-inch Horizontal metal wall panels in Silversmith with a smooth finish and Sundance Mica coating; 5,798 square feet of 22-gauge Concept Series CS-660 metal wall panels in Gray Velvet with a Sundance Mica coating; 784 square feet of Concept Series CS-660 metal wall panels in Silversmith with a Sundance Mica coating; 1,383 square feet of Ecoscreen Perforated Screenwall; and Formavue Integrated Windows.
