A seminar offering an in-depth look at the new energy conservation code in North Carolina attracted more than 30 builders interested in how their business can adapt to the updated code. The eight-hour seminar was presented by Varco Pruden Buildings, a division of BlueScope Buildings North America, Inc., at VP’s regional headquarters in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Sessions throughout the day helped attendees understand the 2012 North Carolina Energy Conservation Code, which went into effect March 1. The code raises minimum energy efficiency requirements for buildings with the goal of reducing energy costs and improving thermal performance.
The seminar included a review of the commercial energy code in the United States and North Carolina, information about COMcheck, a code compliance software tool provided by the Department of Energy, and demonstrations of energy-efficient material options from leading industry material providers.
