During the 2009 Middle Atlantic Region Conference, ATAS International Inc., Allentown, Pa., was honored with the Organizational Certificate of Merit from the Construction Specifications Institute Middle Atlantic Region. The conference took place in Charlottesville, Va., from Oct. 8-11. The Organizational Certificate of Merit is presented during the conference to a firm or organization for distinguished accomplishments that have promoted the objectives of the CSI MAR and the CSI. National sales manager for ATAS, Lee Ann Slattery, accepted the award on behalf of ATAS. “At ATAS, we believe in supporting organizations that are integral to the construction process and groups that improve upon how all segments of that process work together,” said Dick Bus, president of ATAS. “We appreciate the recognition from the Middle Atlantic Region and look forward to working with this group and others that promote better building with stronger communication.” ATAS was also honored by the state of Virginia with a 2009 Governor’s Environmental Excellence Award during the Environment Virginia Symposium, which took place in April in Lexington, Va. Presented by Virginia Secretary of Natural Resources L. Preston Bryant Jr., the award is for the Better Living Building Supply: Better Living Phase II in Charlottesville, Va. Phase II of this project, which consisted of the Mill Shop for the Better Living Inc. store, was the Silver Medal Winner in the Environmental Project Category. ATAS contributed its InSpire Wall to the Better Living Building Supply. InSpire consists of transpired solar collector metal wall panels mounted a few inches from the building’s outer wall.
