Marshall County Public Library, Hardin, Ky.

A 9,000-square-foot building in Hardin, Ky., houses marshall_county_public_library the Marshall County Public Library collection. The new facility replaced the old 2,500-square-foot structure giving residents more public access computers and a more spacious public meeting room, while allowing the library to expand its collection of books, movies and reference materials. Benton, Ky.-based project architect, Castleberry, McGregor, Swinford worked around the county’s request that the new library mirror the look and footprint of another new county library branch.

The facility includes an 11,200-square-foot roof made up of 26-gauge, 16-inch-wide Series 2000 standing seam roof panels in Charcoal Gray from Perth Amboy, N.J.-based Englert Inc. In addition, the Hardin facility features a brick façade characteristic of buildings traditional to the region. RCI Roofing and Sheet Metal, Biloxi, Miss., installed the roof panels. “Both the brick mason and the roofing contractor did an excellent job of bringing their ends of the project to fruition,” notes Curt Swinford, partner at Castleberry, McGregor, Swinford.
