Residence’s new metal roof part of rebuild

Completed in 2008, this private residence in East Hampton, N.Y., is built on the existing foundation of the original house from the early 1970s. ATAS International Inc., Allentown, Pa., supplied 3,043 square feet
(283 m2) of 24-gauge MRD 150 metal roof panels in Silversmith. A metal roof was chosen for aesthetic reasons, its long lifespan and its sustainable qualities. The goal was to create an aesthetic connection between the interior and exterior of the home, while remaining environmentally friendly. This was achieved with a continuous metal roof-to-wall design that wraps the building in an Energy Star-qualified cool roof.

The project consisted of a complete rebuild and expansion on an existing house footprint. Eisner Design LLC, New York City, was the architect; Aran Construction, East Hampton, was the general contractor; and JA Copperworks Inc., East Hampton, was the distributor and installer.
