Offices Utilize Metal Building

Completed in August 2007, the 10,374-squarefoot (964-m2) offices at Remington Place, Fresno, Calif., feature a rigid frame metal building system from Eufaula, Ala.-based American Buildings Co. with a SmartKote 70 percent PVDF resin coating supplied as Kynar 500 or Hylar 500 by BASF, Florham Park, N.J.

The 91- by 114-foot (27- by 35-m) buildinghas four 28 1/2-foot
(9-m) bays. The clear span LRF Frame features a single-slope roof design with tapered rigid frames. There is one row of interior columns at the center of the building with both ends made of non-expandable rigid frames. The perimeter walls are open to full height for stud framing and stucco application. The rigid columns are designed as unsupported and H/100 deflection for stability. Wall spandrel beams carry the seismic/wind transfer to the building, while x-bracing occurs at the roof portal bracing at both sides.

Style-Line Construction Inc., Fresno, was the general contractor and Chong Lee Engineering, Fresno, was the designer on the project.
