AIA’s Custom Residential Architects Network Elevated to Independent AIA Knowledge Community

The American Institute of Architects’ (AIA) Custom Residential Architects Network (CRAN), formally a subgroup of the Housing Knowledge Community, has been elevated to the status of an independent AIA Knowledge Community. This elevation will allow CRAN to unite and represent all custom residential architects within the AIA while encouraging more custom residential architects to join the AIA. The elevation was brought about by member concern that the AIA Residential Knowledge Community, which includes institutional and multi-family projects, was not best positioned to provide resources for custom residential architects.

CRAN’s primary focus is to make the AIA relevant to custom residential architects by providing information, advocacy, and education for residential architects. CRAN will also provide education for the public in matters of custom residential design.
