An all-metal experience for architects at METALCON 2026

Architects and designers heading to METALCON 2026 will find more than a traditional tradeshow. For three days, metal takes center stage.

In this conversation, editor-in-chief Anthony Capkun speaks with Judy Geller, vice president of METALCON, and Lee Ann Slattery, chair of the Metal Construction Association, about what architects, designers, and other metal construction professionals can expect at the show.

A highlight of the event is the Design District—a dedicated area focused on architectural education and continuing education opportunities. Slattery notes that METALCON can be particularly useful for architects looking to fulfill continuing education requirements while expanding their knowledge of metal construction.

The educational program also includes a Thursday keynote from Kermit Baker, who recently served as chief economist for the American Institute of Architects, as well as numerous workshops, presentations, and hands-on learning opportunities.

Beyond education, attendees can explore products and systems from across the metal construction industry, meet manufacturers and suppliers, and take part in networking events including Forge, an event for women in metal construction.

Taking place Oct. 7-9 in Orlando, METALCON will bring together more than 250 exhibitors representing approximately 75 product categories, alongside more than 35 free education sessions covering metal construction, design, performance, products, and installation.

Plan to attend METALCON 2026 in Orlando, October 7-9.

Hosted by editor-in-chief Anthony Capkun, Editor’s Corner is where curiosity meets construction. Each episode explores ideas, technologies, challenges, and questions shaping the built environment through conversations with the people behind them.
